Gallup Poll Shows HISTORIC High for GOP Generic Ballot

Higher than GOP takeover in 1994 and gains in 2002!

From Gallup:

These results are based on aggregated data from registered voters surveyed Aug. 23-29 as part of Gallup Daily tracking. This marks the fifth week in a row in which Republicans have held an advantage over Democrats -- one that has ranged between 3 and 10 points.

The Republican leads of 6, 7, and 10 points this month are all higher than any previous midterm Republican advantage in Gallup's history of tracking the generic ballot, which dates to 1942. Prior to this year, the highest such gap was five points, measured in June 2002 and July 1994. Elections in both of these years resulted in significant Republican gains in House seats.
...
Bottom Line

The last Gallup weekly generic ballot average before Labor Day underscores the fast-evolving conventional wisdom that the GOP is poised to make significant gains in this fall's midterm congressional elections. Gallup's generic ballot has historically proven an excellent predictor of the national vote for Congress, and the national vote in turn is an excellent predictor of House seats won and lost. Republicans' presumed turnout advantage, combined with their current 10-point registered-voter lead, suggests the potential for a major "wave" election in which the Republicans gain a large number of seats from the Democrats and in the process take back control of the House. One cautionary note: Democrats moved ahead in Gallup's generic ballot for several weeks earlier this summer, showing that change is possible between now and Election Day.
And Republicans are far more entusiastic in this year's election than Democrats. See Gallup for the full story.

Real Clear Politics shows similar results for the Generic Ballot across all polling indices just as they do other indicators of electoral performance like job approval for the president.

You can make the difference!

Participation of conservatives and tea partiers this election will make the difference. Your contribution to GOP candidates in your district and state and across the country matter more now than ever before.

Photos: Obama's Oval Office Makeover

Nice to see that while Americans are suffering in bad economic times, Obama continues to live in even better style when he's not on vacation or playing golf!

While Obama was away on yet another vaction, the White House staff was busy doing the latest renvovations.

No doubt Obama is planning a political makeover shortly after the November elections!

For Many, Much Higher Health Care Premiums Expose the Lie of Obama Care

Funny how the George Soros groups who demanded passage of Obama Care are now refusing to talk about it!

What is happening in North Carolina is happening all across the country. A recent Raleigh News Observer story describes how approximately 30% of the state's 300,000 subscribers to Blue Cross health insurance plans will see  rates go up by up to 30%. Why?

"If you have health care, you're going to pay more," said John McDonnell, a principal with Progressive Benefit Solutions in Raleigh, which helps employers buy insurance.
...
Some of his clients are facing rate increases of more than 20 percent. And not just from Blue Cross, but from other big providers, including Cigna, Aetna and United Healthcare.

It's partly because of increasing medical costs and more people using expensive services, but also because the new federal health law is forcing changes such as eliminating annual or lifetime limits on coverage, expanding dependent care for children until age 26 and more, McDonnell said. "With everything that's been added, you can't really expect costs to go down," he said.

The situation isn't likely to improve any time soon. As more provisions of the health overhaul law take affect in 2014, Blue Cross officials said they expect rates to rise further.

"We do expect significant premium volatility in 2014 as the industry moves to an entirely new rating structure," said Patrick Getzen, Blue Cross' chief actuary.

The rising rates will likely force more people in North Carolina to cut back on coverage or go without, said Adam Linker, a policy analyst with the N.C. Justice Center's Health Access Coalition. And some of the additional "safety net" measures of the federal law won't start until 2014, he added.
So, all those Dems and their backers who chortled that Obama Care would control health care costs are doing what? They're trying to change the subject. From the Politico:

The progressive coalition Health Care for America Now fought hard to pass health care reform. Now it’s fighting hard to help reelect lawmakers who voted for the bill — even if it means not talking about it.
...
Now, HCAN’s field crews are finding that the best way to support reform-friendly lawmakers is to talk about something else: jobs, the economy or other issues likely to resonate more with voters.
...
The strategy switch has meant encouraging health activists to switch their focus away from promoting the health reform law they worked ardently to pass. Marc Stier, who directs HCAN partner organization Penn Action in Pennsylvania, now reaches out to a network of 25,000 heath activists to work on other issues.

“What’s different from last year is that we’re not just focused on health care,” he told POLITICO. “We’re focused on a variety of progressive issues ... the response has been really great. People want to stay engaged, and not just as health care activists.”
Let's recap. HCAN, a group bought and paid for by socialist billionaire George Soros for the purpose of promoting a federal takeover of health care is still in business, but now it is focusing on jobs and other progressive issues?

Fine by me... let's talk about jobs and the complete failure of Obama's socialist stimulus to create jobs. But I doubt voters will want to forget altogether the nasty health care bill which is currently forcing their health insurance premiums to go up and causing businesses to hire fewer workers as a result.

Reminder of What Obama and Dems REALLY Thought About Iraq When It Mattered Most!

In speech tonight, will Obama try and take credit for a victory strategy he opposed?

President Obama's big speech on the withdrawal of combat forces from Iraq will be a rarity. He hardly mentions the subject and seems to express little interest in winning the peace after the difficult years in which President Bush, General Petraeus and our brave troops fought hard to win the war.

It's also important to remember that not only was the surge Bush's plan, but also the drawdown of troops which Obama will now celebrate tonight.

When asked Tuesday about whether the surge was a success, White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs said: "The president always believed that you would change part of the security situation by vastly increasing the number of troops." Really? See the video below if you are a bit hazy on that one.

The following video was released by House GOP Leader John Boehner:

The video, entitled “Victory is the Only Option,” underscores the success of the surge strategy that was opposed by then-Senators Barack Obama and Joe Biden, Speaker Pelosi, Majority Leader Reid and other Democrats when it was announced by General David Petraeus and President George W. Bush. While the Obama Administration today is seeking to take credit for “ending the combat mission” in Iraq, the video credits our troops and their families, whose hard work, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication have helped transform Iraq from a once volatile threat to a nascent democracy and a key ally of the United States.
Victory in Iraq was defined by President Bush as a country that could govern itself, defend itself and be an ally in the war on terror. Those objectives have been achieved and we thank the troops and the leaders which helped bring it about. But that doesn't mean we disengage totally from Iraq. Obama has hardly mentioned Iraq in the past year and it's troubling to many to see an Administration so loosely engaged on this issue which cost so much in American lives and treasure.

Obama: Are You Still Listening to Me?

Technical difficulties in remarks to the press highlight Obama's biggest problem: No one believes him anymore...

In remarks today in the White House Rose Garden where President Obama once again blames the Republicans and former President Bush for our economic woes, a strange thing happens. Problems with the microphone lead him to ask ""Can You Guys Still Hear Us?" Full story at Political Punch on ABC News.com.

Obama has to realize by now that even when the microphones are working perfectly, and the teleprompter he's reading from doesn't crash to the floor and shatter [video] the words he eventually utters have lost their magic with the American people.

The man has been exposed repeatedly as an empty suit or worse. And don't say you heard it here first!

Charles Krauthammer Nails Arrogant, Liberal Elites

The same might apply to elites in the GOP as well!

You'll want to read today's column by Charles Krauthammer in it's entirety here.

He points out how on a range of issues, "liberals have lost the argument in the court of public opinion," and thus have resorted to the oldest trick in the book by demonizing their opponents and dimissing their concerns.

The latest in this list of lost liberal causes for liberals is the Ground Zero Mosque:

And now the Ground Zero mosque. The intelligentsia is near unanimous that the only possible ground for opposition is bigotry toward Muslims. This smug attribution of bigotry to two-thirds of the population hinges on the insistence of a complete lack of connection between Islam and radical Islam, a proposition that dovetails perfectly with the Obama administration’s pretense that we are at war with nothing more than “violent extremists” of inscrutable motive and indiscernible belief. Those who reject this as both ridiculous and politically correct (an admitted redundancy) are declared Islamophobes, the ad hominem du jour.

It is a measure of the corruption of liberal thought and the collapse of its self-confidence that, finding itself so widely repudiated, it resorts reflexively to the cheapest race-baiting (in a colorful variety of forms). Indeed, how can one reason with a nation of pitchfork-wielding mobs brimming with “antipathy toward people who aren’t like them” — blacks, Hispanics, gays, and Muslims — a nation that is, as Michelle Obama once put it succinctly, “just downright mean”?

The Democrats are going to get beaten badly in November. Not just because the economy is ailing. And not just because Obama overread his mandate in governing too far left. But because a comeuppance is due the arrogant elites whose undisguised contempt for the great unwashed prevents them from conceding a modicum of serious thought to those who dare oppose them.
I couldn't say it better!

And They Call Sarah Palin an Idiot?

Obama can't even use an umbrella!

Or maybe he's just too used to walking on water and not getting rained on?

Photobucket
Obama and Michelle have umbrella problems while in New Orleans for the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

Maybe we should make it a requirement for a President and a Commander in Chief to be able to use an umbrella before being qualified to run for President!

Can Floridians Be Fooled Again?

Gov. Crist's latest flip flop on Obama Care highlights his fundamental dishonesty!

Florida Governor Charlie Crist, the Independent candidate for senate who swore he would stay in the GOP primary before ducking out when he realized he couldn't win, is at it again.

First, he was against Obama Care, claiming in July that had he been in the U.S. Senate he would have voted against it. On Friday, in a television interview he said clearly that “I would have voted for it but I think it can be done better." Two hours later he said that he misspoke.

Watch the video for yourself and see if you think his support for Obama Care was a slip of the tongue.

Crist has also flip flopped on earlier stands he took as a Republican when he said he would work to repeal Obama Care. Marco Rubio's campaign web site outlines the tangled web that has snared Charlie Crist.

Crist Claims to Be Conservative, but "Thank God" Not a Republican?

Also, this week, Crist claimed to be a "conservative" in the Florida Panhandle, one of the more conservative areas of the state, but later said in liberal South Florida that “thank God” he was no longer a Republican. It's no wonder he gets confused on whether or not he supports Obama Care.

Crist Supported Obama Stimulus and Promised Jobs. Where are They?

Readers may recall that Gov. Crist physically embraced Obama [photo] And actively supported the 2009 stimulus bill claiming it would create 206,000 jobs for Floridians. Instead, another 213,000 Florida workers lost their jobs. Crist still defended the Stimulus a year later after a White House meeting with Obama he dismissed Marco Rubio's criticism of the bill by saying “He’s wrong and I’m right.”

The voters of Florida know who is right and who is wrong. And I doubt they will be suckered into voting for another lying politician who repeatedly says one thing one day and something entirely different the next.

And with a candidate like Marco Rubio, they can't go wrong. His Reaganesque background and views are what Florida and the United States need. On Saturday, he delivered the GOP Weekly Address:

Help Marco win and help him take back America. Contribute to his campaign today!

Congressional Report Card on National Security Votes

How does your member or Senator rate?

Liz Cheney's group, Keep America Safe, has come out with their scorecard for elected members of the U.S. House and Senate grading them on their votes on National Security issues.

Ground Zero Mosque Imam Says U.S. More Guilty Than Al Queda

This is the guy who is supposed to be a model of moderation and it's bigoted for us to oppose his mosque?

From Keep America Safe:

Imam Rauf: "The United States has more Muslim blood on it's hands than Al Queda has on it's hands of innocent non-Muslims."

The wording may be a bit Clintonian, but the statement might actually be true. Notice how he doesn't claim we have killed "innocent muslims." Yes, we have killed a great number of Muslim terrorists in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere. But Al Queda TARGETS innocent civilians. They have also killed large number of innocent Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Is it any wonder that overwhelming majorities of the American people in poll after poll see this Imam and his cohorts for what they are?

RECENT POLLS:
CBS: 72% of Americans Oppose Ground Zero Mosque
Rasmussen: 62% Oppose Ground Zero Mosque/Only 25% Support
CNN: 68% of Registered Voters Oppose Mosque At Ground Zero
Marist: Strong Majority in NYC Oppose GZ Mosque; Mayors #’s Plummet
Siena: 56% of NYC Residents Oppose Ground Zero Mosque
Quinnipiac: Strong Majority of NYers Oppose Ground Zero Mosque

Dems to Begin Cutting Off Struggling House Candidates

Dems are abandoning Obama and Obama is abondoning them!

As I recount in the post below, Obama promised vulnerable House Dems that they could count on him to help save them from the "electoral bloodbath" headed their way. Like so many of Obama's promises, that one appears to have evaporated too.

The Dem Congressional Committee charged with electing Democrats to Congress is about to cut loose those who cannot be saved from defeat. What is really stunning in this Politico article is the revelation that "60 districts targeted for advertising by the DCCC, 54 are held by Democrats." It's a startling admission of how much of defense Dems are in this election.

Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Chris Van Hollen sent a cold-blooded message Friday to underperforming party candidates: Get your act together or you’re on your own.

Facing a perilous political environment that has left the House Democratic majority in jeopardy, Van Hollen told reporters in a briefing at the National Press Club that the party faced a series of looming difficult decisions about which candidates to invest in this fall – and who to leave behind.
Sorry Chris, your candidates have already chosen to leave you, Pelosi and Obama behind!

Dems Abandon Obama as "Recovery Summer" Becomes Recession Relapse!

But will panicked Dems really be able to sell voters on the idea they are "independent?"

In the last few weeks there has been a slew of bad news. First, new claims for unemployment hit a record high of 500,000 the week of August 19th. Remember how V.P. Joe Biden predicted in April that we would see 500,000 NEW jobs every month this summer? This was preceded by another record in home foreclosures in July. Friday, August 27, we learn that the Federal government has revised their previous estimates of economic growth sharply downward. Previous economic growth of 2.4% was really 1.6%.

Signs of a possible double dip recession are everywhere, but nowhere more clear and personal than the lingering unemployment numbers. Compare the current state of unemployment in the Obama Depression to past recessions:

Panicked Democrats Distance Themselves from Obama, Reid and Pelosi

Employers are not hiring. The uncertainties caused by Obama's economic policies and health care reform are strangling the economy. Obama has become a jobs killer. Democrats who went along with Obama and the leadership of Nancy Pelosi in the House and Harry Reid in the Senate are staring to panic. The Politico has a piece this week in which some Dems admit that they will lose the House of Representatives this fall.

Ten days ago, I shared this great video of Dems aboard Air Force One with Obama suddenly hitting the escape chute to get away like the Jet Blue flight attendant. But truth is even stranger than fiction. Now, we are seeing ads from Democrats openly distancing themselves from Obama and trying to claim they are independent, even refusing to identify themselves as Democrats.

First, there's Rep. Bobby Bright (DEMOCRAT-AL) who openly speculates whether House Speaker Nancy Pelosi "might get sick and die." Bright has an ad out where he touts his independence and no votes on health care and bailouts. Bright calls himself an "Independent Conservative" and never once mentions he is a Democrat. But he still voted with his Nancy Pelosi 71% of the time and his place in the Democrat House caucus allows them to continue Pelosi's reign of liberal tyranny.

Rep. Jason Altmire (DEMOCRAT-PA) has a similar ad touting his Independence. In it, a voter claims Altmire is "not afraid to stand up to Nancy Pelosi, and the President." But, he voted with Pelosi 88.6% of the time.

Then, there's Rep. Joe Donnelly, (DEMOCRAT-IN) who has run ads touting his independence and another where he sounds a lot like a Republican as he comes out in favor of strong enforcement of illegal immigration. But he voted with Pelosi 88% of the time and with Obama 85% of the time.

And how about Rep. Mike McIntyre (DEMOCRAT-NC) who claims in his ad "I don't work for Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid or anyone else." McIntyre claims his priority is jobs. Too bad North Carolina's unemployment rate at 9.8% still exceeds the national average. McIntyre voted with Nancy Pelosi 90% of the time.

Ask Your Rep: Did You Vote for Pelosi?

If you have a Democrat representing you in Congress (my sympathies) go to one of their Town Hall or election meetings and ask them: Did YOU vote to put Nancy Pelosi in the Speaker's Chair? And if they try and tell you how "independent" they are point to this list from the Washington Post which shows how often they voted with Pelosi. Then ask if they are so independent, why are they still a Democrat?

Obama: I'm Here to Save You!

Readers may recall that in January, retiring House Democrat Marion Berry (AR) in a meeting with Obama "warned of a midterm bloodbath comparable to the 54-seat D-to-R swing in 1994." Obama told the group of Dems, ‘Well, the big difference here and in ’94 was you’ve got me.’

Funny, but most Dems in trouble (and that's A LOT) don't want to be seen anywhere near Obama. He's their biggest electoral albatross!

Tea Parties Rocking the GOP Establisment Boat

Rick Scott win in Florida and possible upset in Alaska Senate race teach the K Street GOP a lesson!

The conventional wisdom was that Tea Party favorites in Florida and Alaska would lose to establishment backed Republicans in Tuesday's primary battles. Rick Scott in Florida was predicted in some polls to be behind long time GOP congressman and current Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum. The Party establishment rallied to McCollum's side. Scott edged out McCollum by three points: 46% to 43%.

In Alaska, both Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee joined the Tea Partiers and endorsed the outsider bid of Joe Miller to unseat Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski in that state's primary. It was a long shot bid that many analysts thought didn't have a chance of success after earlier polls showed Murkowski with a whopping lead.

The storyline was that should these Tea Party and Palin favorites lose, it might spell the decline of the influence of both on national politics after earlier surprise wins in Kentucky, Colorado and Utah where the Tea Parties ousted long time GOP incumbent Bob Bennett. Obviously, the strength of the Tea Parties and the Palin effect are just as strong as ever.

This is another setback for the GOP establishment which Tim Carney, writing at The Washington Examiner calls "K Street" Republicans. In Washington, K Street is the part of town where big law firms and lobbyists hang their shingle. The clubby atmosphere in which former elected officials of both parties work together better than they ever did in Congress towards the goal of making mounds of cash for themselves has an unwritten rule: don't rock the boat or you might get tossed off the gravy train.

The Tea Parties, and Palin are rocking that boat and defeating many of the K Street candidates who were expected to come into office and not make waves.

Carney's report describes how big money corrupts political ideals and principles and that same big money K Street axis is working to defeat Tea Party candidates who won't play ball. As an illustration of how shocking this lack of principle has become Carney reports that former GOP standard bearer Bob Dole recently gave a $1,000 contribution to Florida Governor Charlie Crist, the GOP turncoat running against Marco Rubio for the U.S. Senate.

But as I reported in yesterday's visit with SC Senator Jim DeMint, candidates like Ron Johnson in Wisconsin, who have a very good chance of defeating liberal Senator Russ Feingold, told GOP Senators he follows the DeMint model. His goal is to come to Washington to fight for conservative principles, not join the club of Washington insiders.

Other Big Story: Huge GOP Turnouts Continue

Earlier this month, I linked to an analysis of primary voting trends in several states by Sean Trende at Real Clear Politics. The turnout for GOP races this year has been at historic highs. That trend is continuing in many of the latest races. In the 2006 Florida GOP primary race for Governor, approx. 974,000 votes were cast. This time around 1.28 million GOP votes were cast in the gubernatorial primary. That demonstrates the enthusiasm that Tea Party candidates bring to the races they enter.

We are warned by the K Street GOP establishment about the risks of putting forward untried and untested candidates. Those risk are real. But what is also undeniable is that the outpouring of new voters for candidates who are willing to fight for principles and not just join the comfortable club of Washington insiders is more than enough to make up for any lack of campaign experience or Washington connections!

SC's Conservative Champion, Jim DeMint, Visits Lowcountry

PhotobucketAn elected conservative we can be proud of!

The Sun City Republican Club held a meeting Tuesday afternoon with U.S. Senator Jim DeMint as the speaker [campaign web site]. Hundreds of Sun City patriots showed up to hear DeMint and many asked questions in the extensive Q&A session which followed. It was a gathering of patriots in the truest sense of the word as evidenced by the meeting which started with a prayer for our country, our troops and our leaders followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. And no one needed help with the words!

DeMint opened his remarks by reminding his audience that no matter what challenges we face in this country, "we have really been blessed" to live in such a great land and we must commit ourselves to "leaving this country in as good a shape as we found it."

DeMint the New Conservative Kingmaker?

He spoke of the sometimes bitter disputes that erupt in all walks of political life and hinted that at some point he questioned whether he wanted to run for a second term. But he was struck at the number of people who come up to him and say "thank you" to him and his wife and encourage them to go on. DeMint said: "We can't walk away when so many people are willing to stand with us."

It's that support from the folks back home and conservatives all across the country which has animated DeMint to take on the old Washington game of looking the other way while some Republicans desert their principles. He recalls the time when he went to see Arlen Specter (R-PA) now (D-PA)and told his colleague that he would be supporting Pat Toomey for Senate. Specter walked out with barely a word said.

DeMint's been very willing to back primary challenges to the old GOP, wheel and deal Washington insiders. Aside from his staunch support of Pat Toomey, he's endorsed the Reaganesque Marco Rubio in Florida "not just another old white guy" is how he describes Rubio. Also Rand Paul running for Senate in Kentucky and Ken Buck who won the GOP primary in Colorado recently over a heavily favored GOP establishment candidate.

He tells the story of how Ron Johnson, GOP candidate for Senate in Wisconsin, came to a meeting of Senators to see if they were serious about changing the inside the beltway mentality that permeates much of the ruling class in both parties. Johnson told the gathering the he quotes Jim DeMint: "I'm coming here to join the fight, not join the club."

Jim DeMint's Core Beliefs

DeMint has started his own fundraising and candidate recruitment effort to help conservatives called the Senate Conservatives Fund. From which he has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to help conservative candidates, like those above, who are committed to helping the GOP to return to it's core principles. He talks about "America as unique, strong and compassionate because of our principles." Core among these are::
  • A belief in Constitutional limited government.
  • Paired with personal responsibility
  • And opportunity made possible by free markets in a capitalist system.

He reminded his audience that Democrats like Obama, Reid and Pelosi forgot these truths and depend instead on big government programs. How's that been working out?

DeMint expanded on these core principles and said that "Government should have a limited role. It should protect the people and our borders, build hospitals and schools and make this the best country in the world in which to do business."

Questions and Answers

There was a large line of questioners following DeMint's remarks. Among the questions were:

--Fear that in a lame duck session of congress with newly defeated Dems still able to vote, will force through another batch of extremists liberal policies. DeMint agreed that these might include the big labor union card check thuggery, cap and trade energy tax and one last orgy of big spending. DeMint calls on Democrats to pledge that they won't abuse the will of the voters if the GOP wins big and suggests that "they won't have the nerve."

--Will Old Senate GOP Leadership respect election result which may propel new conservatives into office? DeMint calls this the "million dollar question." The Senate seniority system for committee assignments determines who has the power to get things done. DeMint reminded the audience that the Senate focus should be on what is best for the country, not how much pork Senators can bring how to their states. "Enough is enough" DeMint says of pork barrel spending.

--The Fair Tax: DeMint had introduced a variation on the Fair Tax which called for an 8.5% sales tax which would replace the income tax. It got nowhere. But he calls on any new GOP majority in the House and Senate to consider the measure and says that we "need a debate on the issue and I'll lead it."

--100% Repeal of Obama Care? This question was followed by exceptionally strong support throughout the audience. DeMint reminded voters that he had already introduced a bill for repeal and that it was essential to remove ObamaCare in toto and not just trim around the edges. He supports alternatives like those of Rep. Paul Ryan (R-MN) in the House where costs could be controlled by reducing frivolous lawsuits, buying insurance nationwide and establishing high risk pools for the sick. "We can fix this without the government running health care" was DeMint's conclusion.

P.S. DeMint also would repeal the financial bill which did nothing to reign in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the mortgage giants which caused the financial meltdown.

--DeMint for President? One woman asked why DeMint's name was not usually among those mentioned as a possible presidential candidate. DeMint admitted that perhaps the real reason why he doesn't toss his hat in the ring is that: "My wife would kill me." But he mentioned the need for new faces in search for leadership and repeatedly mentioned the name of Chris Christie, the newly elected Governor of New Jersey as the kind of person he would like to see run. "America is ready for someone to tell them the truth" DeMint said before adding that we need a candidate who is willing to tell the American people that "the Federal government can't solve all your problems."

Citing Christie as someone who was willing to take on the big government unions which block so many common sense reforms DeMint reiterated that we need a candidate who isn't a Washington insider. He said we need someone who can combine "Winston Churchill and Ronald Reagan." One wonders if the Senator has been reading Mike's America where I made that very same statement just days ago.

--Tea Parties a Passing Phase? DeMint declared that the "Tea Parties are the tip of the iceberg" and not going to fade out. He reminded the audience that he was the only U.S. Senator at the 9/12 rally in Washington last year. He took their message back to his Senate colleagues who had all but ignored the event, which DeMint insists drew one million people to Washington. He told his colleagues that "the big tent came to Washington and invited US to come inside." The Tea Party message is simple: "stop spending, borrowing, debt and the takeovers." Has that message gotten through?

--Birthright Citizenship for children of illegals? The bottom line, DeMint is against the idea of anchor babies which draw young families to immigrate here illegally. He defends the 14th amendment which granted freed slaves the right to citizenship, but says that the amendment's intent was not to include anchor babies. Rather than seek a repeal of that amendment he believes we should refine language for legislation to address the issue and that must start in the House. Something which will only be possible with a large GOP majority.

On a personal note: I'm proud to say we have a true conservative leader representing the citizens of South Carolina and carrying the conservative message to states across this country at the time when it is needed most. Jim DeMint is the kind of Senator we need in Washington and a model for conservatives at every level of government!

House Leader John Boehner Previews New GOP "Contract"

Hints at the viable, effective alternatives to more of the Obama big government boondoggle!

In remarks to The City Club of Cleveland, Cleveland, Ohio on August 24, 2010, House GOP Leader John Boehner (OH), the man who is likely to become the next Speaker of the House should the GOP take control in November, laid out more of the GOP plan to help America's economy and jobs recover.

Unemployment in Ohio has been over 10% for much of Obama's presidency. And despite repeated visits to the state by President Obama, it's clear that Obama's only answer to the problem: more government spending, is not the answer. Obama's big government program, replete with onerous new taxes and regulations is strangling job growth in the private sector. There is a better way.

Leader Boehner laid out "five actions President Obama should take immediately to break this economic uncertainty and help more Americans find an honest day’s work:"
  • First, President Obama should announce he will not carry out his plan to impose job-killing tax hikes on families and small businesses.
  • Second, President Obama should announce that he will veto any job-killing bills sent to his desk by a lame-duck Congress – including ‘card check,’ a national energy tax, and any other tax increases on families and small businesses.
  • Third, President Obama should call on Democratic Leaders in Congress to stop obstructing Republicans’ attempts to repeal the new health care law’s job-killing ‘1099 mandate.’
  • Fourth, President Obama should submit to Congress for its immediate consideration an aggressive spending reduction package.
  • Fifth, President Obama should ask for – and accept – the resignations of the remaining members of his economic team, starting with Secretary Geithner and Larry Summers, the head of the National Economic Council.

Details on the above are offered in the full text of Boehner's remarks.

The GOP Alternative Starts by Listening, not Lecturing

Boehner points out that the GOP alternatives, soon to be unveiled in full detail as the fall campaign heats up, are based on the listening project called America Speaking Out. The ideas of ordinary Americans have been distilled into a program that Boehner calls a "clear and positive governing agenda focused on getting people working again." As Boehner describes it:

This agenda will reject Washington-knows-best policies and offer a fresh start focused on unshackling small businesses, unleashing the entrepreneurship of our people and helping families across this great nation realize the American Dream.

Now, this won’t be just some document handed down by Washington know-it-alls pushing the same-old, same-old.

And it certainly won’t be based on the idea that sitting in Washington cutting backroom deals on 2,000-page bills represents hope.

We are building this agenda from the ground up by listening to the American people.
Primary among these ideas will be plans to cap "Endless spending sprees, entangled tax structures, and bureaucracy run amok – these are all outgrowths of a tired, bloated, and broken Washington." House Republicans plan to do this by canceling unspent stimulus and TARP bailouts, freezing government pay and hiring and a freeze on new job killing regulations.

Boehner closed his remarks by saying that "It’s time to put grown-ups in charge. It’s time for people willing to accept responsibility. It’s time to do what we say we’re going to do."

We Need Another Churchill

Photobucket70th Anniversary of Battle of Britain Speech is a reminder of what REAL leadership is all about!

There's an excellent article in the German magazine Der Spiegel last week titled "The Man Who Saved Europe -- How Winston Churchill Stopped the Nazis." It's all the more extraordinary considering how 70 years ago this month the Battle of Britain was at it's height and the survival of Britain was held in the balance. August 20th is also the 70th anniversary of the speech in which Prime Minister Winston Churchill acknowledged the debt owed to the British and allied pilots fighting over England.

The speech (The full audio is item #15 here, text here.) listed a catalog of disasters, defeats and retreat, since Churchill had taken over as Prime Minister just a few months before. But it's not the defeats or disasters which are remembered by history. It is instead the tribute he made to the brave airmen:

"Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few." -- Winston Churchill, delivered in Parliament August 20, 1940

Churchill's Leadership Key to Britain's Survival

Churchill took over as Prime Minister on May 10, 1940. In June, France surrendered to the Nazis leaving Britain alone to fight the Germans who soon began preparations for an invasion of Great Britain. After the devastating defeat in France there was little to stand in the Nazis way but the British airforce which had to be defeated before the invasion, called Operation Sea Lion, could proceed.

In the decade leading up to the outbreak of war Churchill had repeatedly warned about the low state of Britain's military readiness, particularly in the area of air defenses. His statements were dismissed as warmongering. And yet, here he was responsible for the last sure line of defense in the air at the time of maximum danger with an air force that was still woefully inadequate. Britain's very survival hung by a thread.

Lesser men might have despaired and sunk to accept their fate. Not Churchill. Not only did he rouse the will of the British people with his speeches, he inspired them by the energetic effort and initiative he undertook to improve their defense. Production of new aircraft and the training of new pilots soared. The broken remnants of the soldiers rescued from Dunkirk were quickly reorganized into a defense against invasion. Churchill was everywhere, urging people on to greater and greater efforts.

Churchill was himself a dynamo of action. He demanded the same from those who worked for him. He would attach stickers to important memos to government departments which demanded "ACTION THIS DAY." One of Churchill's Private Secretaries, Jock Colville, described how ordinarily lethargic civil servants in government buildings could be seen running down the corridors. No longer did vital work languish in the in boxes of civil servants.

Still, despite Churchill's efforts the catalogue of disasters continued. The Battle of Britain was only won when the Nazis shifted gears and began bombing cities instead of airfields. 40,000 civilians were to die in what became known as "The Blitz." Thousands were to die in the Battle of the Atlantic as German U Boats sunk the shipping that kept the British war machine afloat. In the Mediterranean and North Africa British troops were defeated and pushed back all the way to Egypt, their last line of defense for the Suez Canal the lifeline to India.

It was not until 1942 after the United States had entered the war that the tide began to turn. But the British stuck with Churchill throw all the darkest days. Considering the deaths of so many tens of thousands in a nation of 47 million, it's amazing that the British people maintained their faith in Churchill during this time.

There is so much written about Churchill and so much history he wrote himself it would be beyond the scope of this short post to list it all. Therefore, a smattering of my favorite links will have to do:
There are many who say what the U.S. needs is another Reagan. And that's very true. But another champion of liberty like him may be a long time in coming. Meanwhile, why not another Churchill?

Obama's Christian/Muslim Problem

Trying to prove he's NOT a Muslim only makes Muslims more angry at one who they view as defecting from the faith!

I wasn't going to bring the subject of Obama's faith, or lack of it, up. It's a personal matter for each person and we are not in a position to judge. But the new Pew poll which shows a dramatic increase in the number of people who think Obama is a Muslim and an even more dramatic decrease in the number of people who think he is a Christian raises a political issue that I feel we should address.

It's highly likely that this shift in public opinion, along with Obama's continuing drop in overall approval, has political strategists in the White House very concerned. Pity these folks didn't think to step in before Obama made his speech declaring support for the rights of those who wish to build a mosque at Ground Zero or Obama's apologies to the Muslim world in his Cairo speech last year or how Obama ordered the chief of NASA to perform outreach to the Muslin world.

Obama has attended church publicly only three times since he's been president. Again, that's his choice. But what do you bet we suddenly see him and the First Family attending services in the near future? Perhaps even while on vacation in Martha's Vineyard?

Forget for a moment how such a crass political move might be viewed in this country. Consider how it might be viewed in the Muslim world. Might such a public display of Obama's professed Christianity offend Muslims overseas who are already expressing growing dissatisfaction with him?

Worse still, won't radical Islamists have even more reason to hate Obama is he starts wearing his Christianity on his sleeve? Consider this 2008 op-ed by Edward Luttwak in the New York Times:

As the son of the Muslim father, Senator Obama was born a Muslim under Muslim law as it is universally understood. It makes no difference that, as Senator Obama has written, his father said he renounced his religion. Likewise, under Muslim law based on the Koran his mother’s Christian background is irrelevant.

Of course, as most Americans understand it, Senator Obama is not a Muslim. He chose to become a Christian, and indeed has written convincingly to explain how he arrived at his choice and how important his Christian faith is to him.

His conversion, however, was a crime in Muslim eyes; it is “irtidad” or “ridda,” usually translated from the Arabic as “apostasy,” but with connotations of rebellion and treason.
Obama's left with the choice of continuing to alienate an ever larger sector of the American electorate who think he's a Muslim, or becoming more public about his Christian faith in which case he alienates Muslims.

This tricky conundrum could have been avoided if Obama had steered clear from putting himself in the middle of so many controversial issues. But now that he's staked out that ground, it will be interesting to see how he defends it!

Who are the REAL Extremists?

Obama and Dems try to frighten voters by tarring GOP as extreme!

This is yet another case of Democrats admitting who THEY really are...

9/11 Families Speak Out on Ground Zero Mosque

Where's the respect for their rights in Mosque debate?

Brought to you by Keep America Safe: A group founded by Liz Cheney, Bill Kristol and Debra Burlingame. The ad features first responders and family members of the victims of the terrorist attacks of 9/11 who are speaking out in opposition to the proposed Ground Zero Mosque. We believe their voices should be heard throughout our country and we encourage you to pass their message along.

Who do you stand with? Obama, Pelosi, the terrorist group Hamas and the ACLU who support the mosque or the families of those whose loved ones died on September 11th?

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Suggests Mosque Opponents Should Be Investigated

Yet she expresses zero concern over who is funding the mosque at Ground Zero!

We've all heard the sad bleatings from the defenders of the building of a mosque at Ground Zero, otherwise known as a victory monument to Mohammed. Obama claimed in his White House remarks on this subject that it was a basic constitutional right, freedom of religion, which permits this mosque to be built. Of course that's a phony argument since no one is seriously suggesting we do away with the right of Muslims to practice their relgion or to build mosques, of which there are many in New York.

But apparently the same constitutional protections Obama and other out of touch elitists and Muslim apologists cite as the cornerstone of their defense of this deliberate provocation at Ground Zero in New York do not apply to those who oppose this mosque.

Those of us who oppose this mosque being built at Ground Zero have been denounced as un-American, somehow trying to overturn the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law and attacking freedom of religion. Now, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) suggests we should be investigated:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday said she supports an investigation into groups opposing the building of a mosque near ground zero in New York.
Pelosi told San Francisco’s KCBS radio that “there is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some.”
“I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded,” she said. “How is this being ginned up?”
Does Speaker Pelosi suggest we should also investigate Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), who recently came out in opposition to this mosque? Does she wish to investigate the Jewish Anti-Defamation Leaque which has come out strongly in opposition to this mosque? Would Pelosi also seek to investigate the families of the victims of 9/11 who have come out so strongly in opposition to this mosque?

Without a doubt, Nancy Pelosi has to be the stupidest person ever to sit in the Speaker's Chair in the U.S. House of Representatives and so, it might be easy to dismiss her remarks on this occasion if it were not for her same tendency to delegitimize whoever her political opponents of the moment happen to be with similar "un-American" rhetoric just as she did with Town Hall protesters against health care last August.

Whose side are YOU On?

So, here you have Nancy Pelosi joining Obama in supporting this mosque and attempting to tar opponents. Both are joined by the terrorist group Hamas. Also, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)has come out in favor of the mosque. Funny, but the same ACLU refuses to recognize the constitutional principle of freedom of religion at Christmas when they actively seek to get Nativity scenes removed from public places.

A new poll released Wednesday, August 18, shows a clear majority of New Yorkers believe the mosque should NOT be built, even if those behind it have the right to do so. 63% oppose the mosque, only 27% support building it at the Ground Zero site. This echoes polls taken across the country which show similar results.

Once again, Obama, Pelosi, many on the left and other assorted elitists are on the wrong side of the American people!

New GOP Ad Lampoons Dems Running from Obama

In a takeoff on the Jet Blue flight attendant flap!

This one gets two thumbs up....

Pay close attention to see how many Democrats are willing to be seen publicly with Obama as he comes to raise money in their states!

Democrats Loot Poor, Working Class CA Town

Another example of how Democrat's corruption comes at the expense of working people!

How is it that Bell, California, one of the poorest cities in the state, a working class town of 40,000 mostly Hispanic immigrants near Los Angeles, ends up paying among the highest property taxes in the area? Because the Democrats who run the town have looted city government to line their own pockets.

Ann Coulter brings us up to speed:

There have been hundreds of news stories about Bell city officials' jaw-dropping salaries. In this poor city on the outskirts of Los Angeles, where the per capita annual income is $24,800 a year, the city manager, Robert Rizzo, had a salary of $787,637.

That's about twice what the president of the United States makes. (To be fair, Rizzo was doing a better job.)

Rizzo was the highest-paid government employee in the entire country, not counting Maxine Waters' husband -- pending further revelations. With benefits, his total annual compensation, according to the Los Angeles Times, came to $1.5 million a year.

Alerted to the Bell situation, the White House quickly added the Bell city manager to the list of jobs saved by its stimulus plan.

Not only that, but Rizzo was entitled to 28 weeks off a year for vacation and sick leave. To put that in perspective, that's almost as much vacation time as public school teachers get!

Reached in Spain, even Michelle Obama was outraged.
...
The police chief, Randy Adams, was making $457,000 -- $770,046 including benefits. The assistant city manager, Angela Spaccia, had a $376,288 salary, with a total compensation package of $845,960. Being just an assistant city manager, Angela had to pay for her own yacht.

After the Los Angeles Times reported the stratospheric government salaries in little Bell, and the people of the town revolted, the millionaire government employees all resigned.

That'll show 'em! Oops, except upon their resignations, they qualified for lifetime pensions worth, by some estimates, more than $50 million.

These insane salary packages were granted by the mayor and four city council members -- who also set their own salaries. As a result, all but one was making $100,000 a year for these part-time jobs. After the council members' salaries came to light, the four looters cut their salaries by 90 percent.

According to Nexis, there have been more than 300 news stories reporting on the Bell scandal. Guess how many mentioned the party affiliation of the corrupt government bureaucrats?

One. Yes, just one. Now guess if the government officials were Democrats or Republicans? Yes, that is correct.

Congratulations -- you've qualified for our bonus round!

The one newspaper to cough up party affiliations, The Orange County Register, admitted that the corrupt officials were all Democrats only in response to reader complaints about the peculiar omission.Photobucket

You'll want to read the rest of Ann's column here.

No wonder govt. workers get paid so much!

Readers may recall that a short while back, USA Today published a story detailing how much more government workers earn than their private sector counterparts. No doubt the crooks in Bell helped push up the average.

The next time Obama or some Dem insists we need another bailout for big government or complains that budget cuts might adversely impact the services of the federal government or local and state entities you can remind yourself that Democrats who run most of these operations are already being overpaid. Sometimes criminally so. Let them give back what they have taken before they come and ask for more from the rest of us.

British Journalist Gives Top Ten Reasons Obama's Presidency is Failing!

Only ten?

Niles Gardiner, columnist for the British Daily Telegraph sums it up. See the full column for details:

1. The Obama presidency is out of touch with the American people
2. Most Americans don’t have confidence in the president’s leadership
3. Obama fails to inspire
4. The United States is drowning in debt
5. Obama’s Big Government message is falling flat
6. Obama’s support for socialised health care is a huge political mistake
7. Obama’s handling of the Gulf oil spill has been weak-kneed and indecisive
8. US foreign policy is an embarrassing mess under the Obama administration
9. President Obama is muddled and confused on national security
10. Obama doesn’t believe in American greatness
Those reasons are all true and readers could probably think up another dozen or so. But the one that is missing from Gardiner's list and the one that I think resonates more deeply with the public is the perception that Obama lied to the American people to get the job. He told the voters he would change the way Washington works and that he would put aside the old partisan games and that implied that he would govern as a centrist listening to both sides.

Of course nothing of the sort happened. We tried to warn the voters that Obama was an inexperienced ultra-liberal who represented a clear and present danger to our economic well beings and freedom but he successfully wiggled his way out of it by accusing us of using scare tactics. But recently, a Democrat polling firm took a survey and found that 55% thought Obama is a socialist! Seems the truth is finally catching up with Obama. I guess it's no suprise his approval rating in every poll continues to crater.

This reminds me of the words of Abraham Lincoln who said: "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time."

Obama might still be able to fool some Democrats all the time. But then, it's not difficult to fool a fool!

Obama Stands Up for Ground Zero Mosque

As if conservatives needed yet another reason to oppose the mosque!

Obama previously said the mosque was a "local issue." Apparently, he decided to weigh in after all and surprise, surpise he's on the wrong side as usual:

President Barack Obama on Friday endorsed a controversial plan to build a mosque and Islamic center just blocks from Ground Zero in Manhattan, despite the strong objections of conservatives, civic groups and those who lost loved ones in the September 11 attacks.“Ground Zero is, indeed, hallowed ground,” Obama said at a White House dinner celebrating the Muslim holiday of Ramadan. “But let me be clear: as a citizen, and as President, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country. That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances.”Having steered clear of the controversy for weeks, Obama took on opposition to the mosque directly — a move that many other Democratic lawmakers had been hesitant to do in the face of highly emotional appeals against its construction.

Read more: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0810/41060.html#ixzz0wYFtsuEe

Is this just another attempt by Obama to appease radical Muslims? How's that been working out? Increased terrorist attacks by Muslims in the U.S. and radicals in Iran pushing the pedal to the floor in their drive to build a nuclear weapon.

Why didn't Obama use the power of his office during this Islamic dinner to ask Muslims to show tolerance for Christians and Jews? Why didn't he ask them to allow a Christian Church to be built in Mecca?

Every recent poll on the mosque issue shows it is opposed by clear and growing majorities of the American people as a whole and New Yorkers as well. Yet, here we have another example of elites like Obama trying to shove this mosque down our throats the same way they did with health care and so much else these past 19 months!

All the more reason to vote for Republicans this fall!

UPDATE: Obama Flips, then Flops on Mosque. Palin Asks Questions and More Moderate Muslims Admit Mosque is a Provocation!

Obama flipped on his mosque endorsement on Saturday by suggesting that “I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making the decision to put a mosque there." Yet his spokesman later sent an email to reporters in which he stated: ""Just to be clear, the President is not backing off in any way from the comments he made last night."

Does anyone really think Obama has a problem with this mosque being built at Ground Zero?

Sarah Palin asks the same question:

PALIN: Mr. President, should they or should they not build a mosque steps away from where radical Islamists killed 3000 people? Please tell us your position. We all know that they have the right to do it, but should they? And, no, this is not above your pay grade. If those who wish to build this Ground Zero mosque are sincerely interested in encouraging positive "cross-cultural engagement" and dialogue to show a moderate and tolerant face of Islam, then why haven't they recognized that the decision to build a mosque at this particular location is doing just the opposite? Mr. President, why aren't you encouraging the mosque developers to accept Governor Paterson's generous offer of assistance in finding a new location for the mosque on state land if they move it away from Ground Zero? Why haven't they jumped at this offer? Why are they apparently so set on building a mosque steps from what you have described, in agreement with me, as "hallowed ground"? I believe these are legitimate questions to ask.
Meanwhile, moderate Muslims get what this mosque is really all about:

The fact we Muslims know the idea behind the Ground Zero mosque is meant to be a deliberate provocation to thumb our noses at the infidel. The proposal has been made in bad faith and in Islamic parlance, such an act is referred to as "Fitna," meaning "mischief-making" that is clearly forbidden in the Koran.
There are many moderate Muslims who understand what this project is all about (see here and here). And clear majorities in poll after poll suggest the American people understand what is really going on.

So, why doesn't Obama and that handful of ego-driven muslim apologizing elitists not understand what is so painfully obvious to everyone else including Muslims?

South Carolina Dem Senate Candidate Indicted on Felony Obscenity Charge

Alvin Greene isn't that much different from a host of national Democrats up on various charges!

UPDATE: Greene Howls and Wails at Reporter!

The story of crazy Alvin got even more interesting this weekend after a television crew showed up at his father's home where he lives and asked about the indictment. Greene told the crew to leave then wailed "NOOOOOOO" and "GOOOOO" as the reporter questioned Greene's brother who happened to show up as the crew was leaving.

Great political theater!

As much as Democrats in SC and across the country would like to distance themselves from Greene, who is running as a candidate for Senate against the solid conservative Jim DeMint, Greene's behavior is only slightly more bizarre than the daily nincompoopery we see from Obama and Democrats nationwide.
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Longshot U.S. Senate candidate Alvin Greene has been indicted on a felony charge of showing pornography to a South Carolina college student.

Court records show a grand jury in Richland County handed down the indictment Friday for disseminating, procuring or promoting obscenity. The Democratic nominee was also indicted on a misdemeanor charge of communicating obscene materials to a person without consent.

Greene was arrested in November after authorities say he approached a student in a University of South Carolina computer lab, showed her obscene photos online, then talked about going to her dorm room.

Greene has not entered a plea and has refused to talk about the accusations in interviews.

He faces Republican U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint in the fall.
There was never any question about Greene, or any Democrat in SC, offering a serious challenge to Sen. Jim DeMint (campaign web site). DeMint's standing among conservatives, based on his excellent advocacy of conservative principles and opposing Obama's big government power grab, made him a virtual shoe-in regardless of who his Democrat opponent might be.

Democrats in South Carolina must be embarrassed at this sad spectacle in the same way that Democrats in New York and California are finding it difficult to defend their support of Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) and Rep. Maxine Waters(D-CA)after the charges were filed regarding their corruption and misconduct.

Democrats promised that if given control of Congress they would "drain the swamp" of corruption and misdeeds. Apparently, that didn't apply to Democrats caught in worse situations than Republicans.

Former President Bush Welcomes Troops Home in Dallas

The photos are a reminder of a time when we had a Commander in Chief who cared!

More photos at Facebook.

Both former President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush were on hand to welcome the troops as part of the Welcome Home a Hero program. From the Star Telegram:
Former President George W. Bush and Laura Bush joined 33 kids participating in the North Texas Super Bowl Host Committee's SLANT 45 project to give service members perhaps the most memorable moment since the Welcome Home Heroes initiative started in November 2004.

"Today was one of the best if not the best day we ever had," said Lt. Col. Patrick McAfee, who has overseen the program for three years. "It was phenomenal, and the bottom line is that these service members had the shock of their lives. Kids being there gives special meaning to us soldiers, and the president and first lady were there just like regular people."

McAfee said that about 40 people, among them retirees and veterans, show up almost daily to help welcome home soldiers with ovations as they depart customs and enter the main terminal. More than 750,000 service members have been welcomed as part of the program, he said, and some troops make special requests to route their return through D/FW.

Hartsfield-Jackson International in Atlanta is the only other airport with a Welcome Home Heroes program.
...

McAfee said the Bushes took photos with the kids and an individual photo with each of the returning service members, as well as with veterans and family members who were present.

"They went above and beyond anything I can ever have imagined," McAfee said.

Quayle for Congress Ad Not Afraid to Say It Like It IS!

Candidate for Congress in Arizona deserves your support!

Ben Quayle, son of the former Vice President is running for Congress in Arizona:

Quayle: "Obama is the worst President in history!"

WOW! We need more candidates like this guy!

The Obama Depression

PhotobucketHome foreclosures and new unemployment claims hit new highs!

According to Obama acolytes this was supposed to be "Recovery Summer". Obama promised millions of new jobs as the result of his massive and wasteful overspending.

While Obama promised five million "green jobs" in the long term, Vice President Biden went further in suggesting that Recovery Summer would bring 700,000 to 1.4 million new jobs by the end of 2010.

Time is running out!

We now see the consquences of Obama's incompetenece and fealty to a hard left political agenda as job openings in the private sector drop for the second month in a row. Unemployment claims rise to the highest level since February and home foreclosures are up 6% from last year.

Average Americans are without jobs and losing their homes. Meanwhile, the Obamas are planning yet another vacaction. So much for THEIR sacrifice!

July Deficit a WHOPPING $165 BILLION!

And that's not even Obama's record for one month!

On August 11th we learned that the federal deficit for the month of July, 2010 was a whopping $160 billion. But that's not even a record. The record deficit for a single month was last July at $180 billion.

Somehow, I expect that Obama will blame this fiscal insanity on former President Bush or that I will be attacked as a racist for bringing the matter to your attention.

Obama titled his first budget "A New Era of Responsibility." A month ago he lectured Republicans for spending like drunken sailors. Obama's continued posturing on this issue would be funny if the consequences of his fiscal irresponsibility and incompetence were not so serious.

Unchecked and wasteful federal spending, much of it directed to rewarding Obama's liberal base (it certainly hasn't created 3 million jobs) has created a situation where the most massive federal deficits of all time threaten our future economic prosperity and freedom.

Obama's solution to the fiscal nightmare HE created will be to tax us even more at a time when most economists agree that would hamper economic recovery and job growth.

There's only one solution to this mess: If you want to restore fiscal sanity in Washington, your only option is to vote Republican this November!

Barack and Michelle: Sacrifice for Thee and Not for We

Audio of the Obamas as they talk about the sacrifice the American people are being called on to make with a slideshow showing Michelle's lavish vacation in Spain:

Tab to the taxpayers for transportation on Air Force Two, a 13 car motorcade, 10 members of the First Lady's staff and an army of Secret Service agents makes a grand total for the five day trip in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

A Bill So Bad It Doesn't Even Have a Name

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi calls House back into session for big government/union bailout!

It seems the Democrats habit of not reading bills before voting on them has come full circle. Now, Congress is being asked to consider a bill that doesn't even have a name, yet was so important Nancy Pelosi insisted the House come back into session to pass it.

House GOP Leader John Boehner (R-OH) has the full story on this latest legislative malpractice. First, it's another $26 billion dollars down a rat hole. But what's that big deal you say? Obama's pushed the deficit to about 50 times that amount this year and last. But don't worry, this bailout is paid for with higher taxes that are sure to be job killers.
Photobucket
Next, it's another big bailout for big government and the unions behind them. Has anyone ever stopped to think that maybe it's time we started to do something for the rest of the country? How about the millions in the private sector who can't find work instead of another bailout to Obama's big union backers.

After all, we learned this week from USA Today that average salaries for State and Local government workers exceed those in the private sector by almost $9,000. That figure is dwarfed by the average earnings of federal workers.

House GOP Leader Boehner is fed up with this latest scam:
BOEHNER: “This taxpayer bailout was a direct order from Washington unions to Democratic leaders. Instead of listening to the American people who are asking Congress to focus on creating jobs and cutting spending, Democrats are carrying water for their union allies in Washington. The American people want us to end the bailouts. Republicans are listening, through our America Speaking Out project, and offering better solutions.”
Name the bill

Congress’ official Web site calls it the ‘______Act of____,’ and the Library of Congress’ Thomas Web site displays it as the ‘XXXXXX Act of XXXX.’Despite Boehner's objections, he offered to help Democrats with this legislation by suggesting a few names for the bill:
-- Save Our ‘Stimulus’ (SOS) Act
-- ‘Recovery Summer’ Bailout Act (Cash for Flunkers)
-- Delivering Unions a Major Boost (DUMB) Act
-- Helping Election Expenditures, Hurting American Workers (HEEHAW) Act
-- Democracy is Strengthened by Clearly Leveraging and Optimizing Special-Interests’ Effectiveness (DISCLOSE) Act
-- Holding Union Bosses Over Until Card Check Act
-- Rescuing Incumbent Democrats Is Costly (RIDIC) Act
-- Summertime Cash for Union Bosses Instead of Spending Cuts for Taxpayers Act
-- Frivolous Act of Ineffective Largesse (FAIL) Act
-- Naming These Things Hasn’t Gotten Us Anywhere, So Why Bother? Act
Why are Democrats in such a big hurry to throw yet another bone to their big government pals? Could it be that there's an election coming in less than 83 days and they need all the help they can get? Democrats sure can't campaign on what they have done for the rest of us!

Left Creates Fake Racists to Smear Tea Parties and GOP Candidates!

They can't find any evidence of racism at Tea Party events or campaigns so they make it up!

Remember when the Democrats accused the Tea Partiers protesting the health care bill on Capitol Hill of shouting the "n" word at members of the Black Congressional Caucus? And despite the fact that there were cameras everywhere, including some being carried by members of the Black Caucus, no evidence was ever found to make their case?

Well, we knew it was just a matter of time before lying lefties took it to the next level and simply fabricated events to try and use to smear the Tea Partiers. In state after state there is growing proof of a deliberate plan by Democrats to infiltrate the Tea Party movement for the purpose of causing trouble. And now, WE have evidence on tape!

This really shouldn't surprise anyone. After all, if you're bold enough to lie repeatedly about the "n" word and stir up racial animosity for the sake of your political agenda you'll do or say pretty much anything.

Sort of like Obama, Pelosi and Reid!

Hilton Head Tea Party to Give U.S. Constitution to Students

One more way Americans are coming together to make a difference!

I'm pleased to announce my support for the Hilton Head Island Tea Party by placing a link to that organization in my sidebar at left. Like so many groups across the country they are coming together to make a difference this fall.

One of the programs which they are currently undertaking is an effort to distribute 2,500 copies of the U.S. Constitution to students in Hilton Head Island schools to honor Constitution Day, September 17th. That's also my birthday and I can't think of a better way to spend it than to help educate the young on the importance of our founding document.

Boy Scouts Boo Obama

It wasn't just his disrespect to their 1ooth anniversary!

Last week the Boy Scouts of America celebrated their 100th anniversary with a once in 4 years Jamboree. Past Presidents have routinely spoken at the quadrenniel event and it was thought that Obama would speak in person this year considering the importance of the anniversary.

Instead he sent a taped message so he could attend a fundraiser in New York City and appear on the women's daytime discussion program "The View."

Here's what the Boy Scouts thought about the snub:

Listen as one boy yells "I hope you are watching this." Sadly, Obama doesn't care what the Scouts think or what anyone who opposes his policies thinks. After all, his spokesman Robert Gibbs dismissed the huge turnout and overwhelming protest vote against Obama Care in Missouri last week. He said it meant "nothing."

Of course had Obama appeared in person we would expect that the Scouts would have behaved with the utmost decorum and respect. But then again, considering how Obama seeks to undermine the values of honor, duty, patriotism and love of country that the Scouts hold dear they might have booed him anyway.

Joe Wilson Opens Bluffton Campaign HQ

Across the country citizens are getting jazzed and ready to take their country back!

Photobucket

With 86 days to go before the November election dozens of Lowcountry, South Carolina residents turned out on Saturday in Bluffton, SC to help Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC) and his wife Roxanne (holding the scissors) open the local campaign headquarters for the Congressman's fall re-election effort.

Joe will always be a hero to conservatives for his admittedly intemperate outburst during President Obama's address to Congress in September 2009 where he shouted "YOU LIE" [video] after Obama claimed his health care bill would not cover illegal aliens. Later, the White House conceded that the bill might cover illegals after all as there was no enforcement provision to prevent it.

While other members of Congress may take fancy trips to foreign destinations on the taxpayers dime, Joe Wilson came directly to Bluffton after returning from Afghanistan and the Middle East. This was his 10th visit to Afghanistan and he sees slow progress in what is still a very dangerous situation. The story of his trip is here.

Unlike some Democrats who are avoiding Town Hall meetings with their constituents, Joe has kept up a hectic schedule of events throughout his district and proved he can listen as well as legislate. The Town Hall I attended last year was an overflow crowd eager to hear Joe's views on Obama Care (he's against it).

Joe is a reliable voice for conservatives in his district and I am proud to say I wholeheartedly support him. His campaign web site is here and readers are encouraged to make a donation to his campaign.

Solid Proof of GOP Enthusiasm for Fall Campaign

The enthusiasm so evident among those attending the event for Joe Wilson is a scene being repeated all across the country as we enter the final stretch of what will be one of the most important elections in recent memory.

Fed up with Obama's big government power grab and a Democrat controlled congress that refuses to listen to the voice of the American people, opinion polls across the board show an unprecedented surge of voter opposition to the Democrats.

But what counts more than opinion polls are the polls where voters actually cast ballots. And throughout this primary season, in so many states, we've seen large increases in turnout for GOP candidates that dwarfs that of earlier years.

Sean Trende (appropriate name) is the Senior Elections Analyst for RealClearPolitics. In the chart below he compares GOP turnout in past elections with that in three primaries which occurred last week in Kansas, Missouri and Michigan. The increase in the ratio of Republic turnout is dramatic and unmistakable. The opinion polls are right. Republicans are jazzed for a comeback:

Trende concludes his analysis this way:

What makes the turnout on Tuesday especially noteworthy is its proximity to the general election. Despite last year's high Republican turnout in the Virginia and New Jersey gubernatorial elections, and in the Massachusetts special election in January, Democrats believed they had plenty of time to rally their troops and that once the health care debate was behind them, the economy was improving, and the campaigns got under way, they would be able to sufficiently neutralize the enthusiasm gap. But it is now less than 100 days to Election Day, and after Tuesday's vote it appears the enthusiasm gap remains as large as ever.
A Challenge to Readers: Get involved!

Democrats have only just begun to fight back. They will have millions of dollars to spend on behalf of their candidates and their big union/big government allies will spend millions more while sending an army of volunteers out to work on campaigns.

How can you help?

  • Make sure every eligible member of your family, your friends and associates are registered to vote. Provide them with information on the candidates and issues if they are not well informed. Make sure they vote either in person or by absentee. Deadlines for registration and absentee ballots are thirty days before the election so don't put this off.
  • Contact your local GOP party officials and find out where their election headquarters is and offer to volunteer. Many county parties and local candidates also organize phone calls to voters reminding them of the importance of this election. Often, this can be done from the convenience of your own home.
  • Contribute money to the candidates you support. You don't have to live in a district to send money to that campaign. Each of us can cast a vote with our wallets. That's why I prepared my list of the top ten Senate candidates whose races we need to win to retake the Senate.
  • Contribute money to your local, state and the national GOP. They are working hard to coordinate the effort at every level. We won't have a winning team if we don't support the coaches.
  • Write letters to the editor of your local paper emphasizing the importance of this election and how this is the first step to restoring the freedoms under threat by Obama's big government power grab.

Time is short but one thing is clear: there is a huge and mostly silent right leaning majority which outnumbers the left by a significant margin. But we must organize and work together. Those who sit on the sidelines this election will have no right to complain later. United together we can win big. Each of us can make a difference!
